As a part of the Music Business Program at the University of Georgia, I had the opportunity to take the Live Recording Class which, as the name implies, gave me the opportunity to record various acts including Juice and mix them for use on “The Sound of Athens,” a show on WUGA in collaboration with Georgia Public Broadcasting. I am incredibly grateful for this opportunity to interact with these artists and venues and produce a high-quality recording that could be used in a professional capacity.

In early 2023, I was tasked with the “Microcosm of the Music Business” project as a part of the Music Business program at the University of Georgia. For this project, Will Resch and I decided to start a production company, “Magnolia Recordings.”

As Magnolia, Will and I worked with multiple local artists to produce music for streaming services, as well as some local organizations in charge of putting on music festivals. In the end, four of the songs that we worked on were released to streaming services, and we helped with the audio production for four live music events.

This was a project assigned as part of the introduction to the Music Business class that aimed at familiarizing the class with the ins and outs of venue dealings and tour planning. The goal of the project was to route a profitable tour for a fictional mid-sized band within a certain date range and with specific time constraints and expenses. This was also a competition between all of the students and the professor to see who could end up with the highest number and no mistakes. I am sad to say that I did not "win", but this project was incredibly informative and I enjoyed the process!

Nuci’s Spooky Space Jam was a collaborative effort between 15 members of UGA’s Music Business Program to put on a show benefiting local nonprofit Nuci’s Space in Athens, Georgia featuring 3 Athens-based bands: Cam and his Dam Jam Band, Bliss Missile, and Wim Tapley and the Cannons. The goal of the Space Jam Project was to build a concert from the ground up, coordinating marketing, production, and hospitality teams to put on the best show possible in a limited time frame.

This show raised over $1,200, was the first Nuci’s Space Jam to sell out the Space’s beer products, and had around 130 attendees, placing this event as the second most profitable in MBUS history at that point.

I was the Production Coordinator and stage manager for this event and coordinated the sound, lights, and stage crew to put on the show. It was such an incredible experience working with such a passionate and knowledgeable crew on this show and I am honored to have been a part of it.
